Cover Glasses: When for mainly direct fitting, a fron cover of glass is fitted to reduce the brightness or to exclude dirt, an additional allowance must be made for the light absorption, depending on the shape, type and quality of the glass. As a general rule, the above figures should be multiplied by 0.7 for flashed opal, 0.75 for frosted and 0.9 for clear glass, but a definite figure can be obtained from the manufacturer.
